Ride Route Profile:

Name: Deadwood to the Legendary Buffalo Chip via Highway 385 South through Vanocker Canyon.

Mileage: Approximately 43.3 Miles from the City of Deadwood to the Legendary Buffalo Chip.

It’s no secret that Highway 385 south from the City of Deadwood to Sturgis and the Legendary Buffalo Chip is one the best rides the Sturgis Rally has to offer.  That why we chose it of course.  The ride starts off with an escort through the City of Deadwood due south on Highway 385.  Legends Ride participants will ride a smooth rail of asphalt over twisting and turning hills, past towering trees and the smell of fresh pines on the way to small towns like Boondocks and Nemo nestled within the heart of the hills.  The second half of the ride takes you through famed Vanocker Canyon where tall granite walls and spectacular scenery meet you around every turn.  The ride concludes with an escort through the City of Sturgis on the way to the Legendary Buffalo Chip for an exclusive VIP and pre-concert party that will be the talk of Sturgis for years to come.

For those who choose to participate in the actual ride, this ride route is considered an
intermediate route for an average motorcyclist.  That means that there are some
narrow, two lane roads with sharp turns and low shoulders at times.  Average, August
temperatures are usually in the mid to upper 90’s, but temperatures in the hills can dip to
the upper 40’s to lower 50’s so dress in layers and you are encouraged to bring all
weather riding gear just in case we get wet.  The care and safety of our extended family
is very important to us, so please prepare accordingly.
